Finally! A good Mexican restaurant in MN! We moved here from Colorado where there are top notch Mexican restaurants on every corner and were jonesin' hard for some good fajitas. We've been to several other places in the northern suburbs and have experienced salsa that tasted like Pace from a jar, rubbery meat etc. This place has none of that nonsense. This place is legit. We are soon to become regulars even though it's a bit of a hike from our home in Ham Lake.

Typical Tex-Mex Chi-Chi's clone kind of place. Per my intermittently-ignored practice, the star rating is scaled to "typical Chi-Chi's clone" places. If it were scaled to "Mexican restaurants," it would be two stars, because this is not what I think of as Mexican food. However, if you want a quart of Margarita and a cheese-smothered deep fried whatever, it will not disappoint.

I've been to this place two times, it is just a couple steps from a nearby hotel, on my first visit it was a Monday and they had 50% off burritos so I decided to try the "El Grande Burrito", it is a nicely sized burrito filled with beef, smothered with salsa & cheese, I've a fairly big appetite but one of these bad boys was more than enough for the night. On my second visit, I was really missing home (I'm an actual Mexican on a business trip), so I asked for some steak soft tacos on corn tortilla, they really brought me home, give them a try if you want to try something different. By the way if you´re a foreigner like myself the speak fluent Spanish, so don't hestitate to ask stuff in Spanish. :)

I was back at hotel right next door so I thought I try take out. I was here last at 6-30-14 and didn't like it so I try it again. I brought some Salsa at gas station to add to it. I order a beef Burrito went back to Hotel. Salsa help but Burrito was still bland. I will not be back.

My family absolutely loves the food here!! The chips are so fresh! Even my 5 year old loves the chips and salsa here. We really enjoy going here as a family and having lunch or dinner. Even just ordering off the happy hour food menu to keep the cost down is still a great meal! Only drawback is, the last time we went here, less than a month ago, management allowed local teens who were selling gift cards of some sort for their high school football teams, to approach every table and interrupt families having eating to ask if they wanted to buy something. This REALLY turned me off to La Casita , I was very very disappointed in the staff for allowing this to happen. It irritated my parents, who joined my kids and I for a meal and also made us feel unduly obligated to purchase something, although I flat out refused to do so. I understand kids do fundraisers, but NOT inside the resturaunt or even at the front door! Either one is inappropriate. That experience ruined the otherwise great meal for us.

Chips were fresh and crisp. Salsa was very mild and very good. You could almost eat it as a gazpacho. Very tasty. The combo one is an enchilada and a chili relleno. The relleno was cheesy and had a very thin coating that was crispy. Nice touch. Well done. The enchilada had more cheese in it than I like but it was tasty. The plate was delivered so hot it would burn you if you touched it. Decent food. They offer a 20 percent discount if you sign up for their frequent flyer system. I did it at the table. Why would you not sign up?

Have come to this location a few times...always forgetting how lackluster the previous experience was. Staff tends to be slow, even inattentive. Food always seems to arrive with some type of error. This location is a very poor representation of the La Casita brand...save your time, money and appetite for the Heights/Fridley or Roseville locations.

Ambience is nice. Not very authentic Mexican feel however if you're looking for modern trendy with a Spanish flair, it works. The queso blanco is too spicy for a cheese dip. This is always my go to item at Mexican restaurants for my kids however they wouldn't eat it due to the level of heat. Hard to compare with the queso at Don Julio's in Forest Lake/White Bear Lake. Shared the fajitas supremo - was pretty good. Need more tortillas. Chips aren't that good.

Dined here when a friend and I were up in the area volunteering with Feed My Starving Children. It was recommended to us by a local. It was good and the service was great. If we're ever back in the area, would definitely consider another visit.

What was a Fuddruckers has become a La Casita. I like this location better than the ones I have been to in Columbia Heights and Roseville. The dining area adjoins a fairly prominent bar. They feature a lot of tequilas here. I'm not a tequila guy, so caveat emptor. The Carnitas were nicely spiced chunks of roast pork served with tortillas, fresh avocado, pico de gallo, and a small mountain of cilantro. I really liked the flavor and would get this again. The ubiquitous rice and beans showed up but didn't stand out. The service was friendly. The noise level let one have a normal conversation. Overall, A pleasant meal in a spacious room.

Wow, if someone had not mentioned Fudruckers in their review I would not have remembered this used to be one. It looks completely different. This is definitely a popular place as the parking lot was packed! The snow covering up some spots didn't help. Service: a little on the slow side and being busy did not help. At least the waitstaff is friendly. Food: solid for being Midwestern Mexican food. I tried the queso blanco chimichanga. It could have been a bit crispier but the sauce was great. The portion was a good size. We also tried the volcano cake with Cinnamon ice cream. Yum! Drinks: you can get almost any flavor of frozen margarita you like. They had a little kick to them. Not too weak, not too strong. Overall a good dining experience.

Not bad. Chips & Salsa... lots of dishes to choose from as well. I had the grande burrito. I liked it. Like most other Mexican restaurants in the area. Haven't tried the queso yet. Drinks are okay, nothing too special. Worth a visit to see if you like it. I will go again for sure.

Solid (not horribly authentic nor unique) Mexican food joint (I am spoiled in that I have lived in places with more authentic and quality places are prolific). The place is definitely hopping and the prices are reasonable. The expected chips and salsa were acceptable (the chips could be thinner and fresher but when you are hungry they hit the spot). I would give it 2.5 stars but I will round up.

Our family loves this place. Food is good, prices are good, service is quick, and you typically don't have to wait for a seat. Oh and margaritas are excellent.

My ONE complaint is that I always have to wait longer than i feel is necessary before a host acknowledges and seats me. Well, also I don't like that this across from my gym tempting me to undo my hard work... But that's me not them. Ha! I think there are better, more authentic, places to get Mexican Food in the cities but La Casita is not bad by any stretch. I have been going to the other three locations as long as I have lived in this state. Consistent, tasty, tex-mex.

La Casita is a family favorite! We make an effort to come here nearly every friday night. The atmosphere is fun and inviting, the music is upbeat and it's usually relatively quiet. Chips and salsa are always served to start, sooo good. The chips aren't greasy at all and the salsa is amaaaazing, spicy and fresh tasting. I usually order the steak fajitas but tonight I went with Combo 3, two enchiladas (shredded chicken and cheese were my choices) with a side of guacamole and sour cream. They were amazing, not too much filling and served with yummy rice and beans. I like that the cheese is a Colby-jack mixture rather than the genuine Oaxaca cheese or whatever it's called. But the Colby isnt as genuinely Mexican if thats what you want. The food came within 15 minutes of ordering, and our waitress gave a good tequila suggestion for the drinks. I love La Casita, it's the best! Definitely give it a try for cheap, amazing Mexican food.

This is easily our favorite Mexican restaurant. We used to go to the one in Columbia Heights before this one opened but now go here since this one is closer for us. My Dad and I always get the burrito with shredded beef and it seems we can't get enough of it! It's bursting at the seams with beef, beans and rice. The sauce is nicely flavored and not too spicy. I've also had a few of the combinations before and they were all good too. The basket of warm chips and salsa they start you off with is also very good, my Dad even adds it to his burrito it's so good. Service is quick and the food arrives promptly. What makes the experience great for us are the waitresses. Tanya and Lori are usually there to take fantastic care of us but the last time we went on Sunday, Sydney was our waitress and she was awesome. My Dad (who is 82) likes to talk and they are all smiles and give him some time that really makes his day. This place is definitely worth trying out and is our place to go to for Mexican.

Now that La Herradurra has shut down, this is my favorite local mexican joint

It just wasn't good. We tried a wide assortment of items from across the menu and they were all lackluster at best. It's the traditional bland Minnesota Mexican. Nothing spicy (including the chile relleno), salsa boring, and the chips tasted like they came from Sysco. I'd come back if someone was buying but wouldn't spend my own money here.

I think if an outpost of Acapulco wasn't a few miles away and La Herradura wasn't less than a mile away this place would taste better. But La Herradura is miles and miles beyond this place when it comes to authenticity, flavor, service and quality margaritas. This place served me the weakest margarita of my life....which is saying a lot because I've had a lot of margaritas. Food is bland. Service is slow and spotty and the interior decor is cheesy. GO TO LA HERRADURA DOWN THE STREET IF YOU WANT GOOD MEXICAN.

Took my family there to eat tonight, two of the four meals were fantastic, one was ok and one was bad. The combo platter my son ordered had the cheese melted to the point of being a grease pit on the plate on top of his enchilada. The service started out great so I gave the waiter a 20% plus tip but we sat there for over ten minutes waiting at our table for him to bring back the change. FInally the hostess came with our change and said he was too busy with other tables. The quality service changed to being the first time ever for poor service of that degree.

Predictable, but consistently decent Tex-Mex. Best in the area, imo. Only complaint is about annoying behavior from waitstaff: (1) Don't call me "Honey." I'm far older than you and not a child. I'm also NOT your honey. (2) Don't return my credit card, calling me by my first name, which you read off my card. It makes me uncomfortable to know you perused my card so closely, and feels intrusive. (3) Don't interrupt our conversation to announce that you are removing our dishes; just take them....silently. (4) Don't interrupt our conversation to ask if we're "still nibbling." If there's food on our plates, and we haven't put down our forks and pushed the plates away, we're "still nibbling." (5) Don't interrupt our conversation every few minutes to ask if everything is okay. Be observant. If everything is not okay, we'll flag you down, or you will know from our facial expressions. Asking once is acceptable. (6) If you replenish salsa for one in our party, do so for all, or at least ask everyone else whether they, too, want more. (7) When the place is more than half empty on a Friday evening, don't rush us. When we've barely made a dent in our food, we aren't ready to make a decision on whether we need a box or want dessert!

Rice had a good consistency like it had been cooked the right way but it was cold when I ate it and a little bland. The beans were tasteless and the beef fajitas were NOT real. Beef fajitas are NOT regular old round steak or whatever it was that they served me. The restaurant was really cold too. My grand daddy did NOT like his enchiladas, said they tasted like they had been dipped in tomato sauce. My mother said her tacos were cold and the meat was tough.

Like the Pollo Fundito, but La Herradura down the road a bit is much better...

If you like poor service and very poor management, then this is the place to dine. The Management team could care less when a customer is not satisified. Oh, and dont even think of filling out their contact us on their website as they will not get back to you. It is very clear why this restaurant is often very dead due to the poor service and lack of any quality management including the GM who never also never responded. I would encourage you to try a different restaurant if your hungry.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
